Courtly Settings

As anyone who knows me will attest to I love architecture. It's why I do it. I hate conventional styles where one buildin g is designed to fit in with others. This isn't one. This is a shot of the new Federal Courthouse in downtown Fresno. The cladding is precast concrete panels with a repetitious pattern that is similar to the one in the windows. This is the rear of the building (as seen from my office). The front side is on Tulare Street and is much more intersting with canopies with cantilevered window sections. I hope Fresno takes note and decides to do more diverse projects and not just the normal "cookie cutter" architecture that proliferated in the 70's.
